Coming from Colombo, Kandy, Yala or The airport it doesn’t really matter the trip is amazing. The landscape is fantastic and the scenery changes so much when you cross the island. On your way you will pass lakes, highlands, waterfalls, National Parks, paddy fields ect. And of course you will experience bad roads and crazy driving, but this is all a part of the trip to Arugam Bay.  


Most guests come to Arugam Bay by van, witch makes it easy to stop where ever you like on the way, the scenery is fantastic and lots of photo stops is essential. Bus transportation is another option but then you better ask around for the newest update concerning time schedule. It is very cheap but not as comfortable as a van.


Bus from Colombo, 
The CTB Pottuvil / Panama Bus departs from Pettah Bus Stand. From Pottuvil, a short three-wheel drive will bring you to Arugam Bay
. 
Buses also operate from other tourist destinations: 

Hikkaduwa: Tourists can catch the Monaragala bus from the Hikkaduwa Bus Stand. From Monaragela get the CTB Pottuvil / Panama Bus, which stops in Pottuvil. 



Matara: Tourists can catch the Monaragala bus from the Matara Bus Stand. From Moneragela, get the CTB Pottuvil / Panama Bus, which stops in Pottuvil. 



From Kandy: Catch the bus to Mahayana from the Kandy Bus Stand. From Mahayana get the bus to Moneragala. From there on, travel in the CTB Pottuvil / Panama bus to Pottuvil.  

By train: The nearest train station to Arugam Bay is Ella. Trains run from Colombo and Kandy to Ella. Ella is just a 2 ½ hour taxi ride away.

By private taxi: We can also arrange to pick you from the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.

The Villa is located in the centre of Arugam Bay 3 km from Pottuvil and about 4 hours drive from Kandy and 7-8 hours from Colombo by taxi  (aprox. 300 km ).
